With a major in Communications Design and a minor in Printmaking and Fibers from Syracuse University's
School of Visual & Performing Arts, founder Joy Deangdeelert Cho has always loved the mix of refined designs, handmade influences, texture, pattern, and color. After working with numerous fashion clients as a graphic designer at a boutique advertising agency in New York, Joy transitioned into home accessories and textile design at Cynthia Rowley designing home accessories for the Swell line at Target.

After a move to Philadelphia from New York in 2005, she decided to venture on her own and Oh Joy! Studio was born. The studio attracts clients within the fashion and food industries and specializes in surface pattern, identities, and packaging. In 2007, Joy launched a line of stationery products that is currently carried in over 125 stores nationwide and internationally and is also carried in Anthropologie stores across the country. Oh Joy! licensed items are also carried and sold by Chronicle Books and Tiny Prints. An Oh Joy wallpaper collection for Hygge & West will be launching in the Summer of 2010.

Joy is the editor of a design blog (ohjoy.blogs.com) which focuses primarily on visual collections of things she enjoys most. Time Magazine featured her blog as one of the top websites in the "Design 100" issue. She has authored the Oh Joy blog since 2005 and launched a new food blog, Oh Joy Eats, in 2009 chronicling her foodie adventures (ohjoyeats.com). For two years, she authored a weekly column for the Philadelphia Inquirer's Home & Design section and contributes to other noteworthy papers including the Metro which is distributed in major cities nationwide, and she will serve as the Market Editor for Anthology Magazine, a new print shelter magazine launching in the Fall. She has recently finished co-writing & designing Creative, Inc. a book about becoming a freelance creative talent to be published by Chronicle Books and to released in Fall 2010.

In 2010, a new branch of Oh Joy was launched. Combining Joy's years of experience helping to build brands for design clients and her love of mentoring other creatives in their career path, Oh Joy Rx was formed. Rx works with all types of clients in the creative field from product designers, retailers, photographers, designers, freelancers, and more. Rx serves as consulting and mentoring-in-one to guide small businesses and individuals with pricing, marketing, ideas for growing their business, feedback on website and products, social networking, handling work/life balance, figuring out next steps career-wise, and more.
